Below is a picture of the Mini Marcos of Patrick Nicolas from France, I saw this originally in one of the old club magazines in a feature on its restoration/rebuild and a follow up on its sale to France. I really like the front of the car especially the fog lights and the indicators. I think the set up is the way a marcos front should be and it gives the car a more modern look to it. At first I thought that the indicators were from the wings of the VW beetle, but looking at pictures these seem too large. Has any one an idea on what they are from?
P.S. Not mad about the semi circle bit at the bottom of the screen, no idea what it's for? |

Neil,
I've had spot or fog lights down there for a long time. In fact they're slightly forward and I have a heater air intake behind the offside one. With a standard UK number plate there wasn't enough space for the indicators on the front panel so I stuck them on the side like the '66 Le Mans car, although I didn't know about that at the time. See DH8277 in the members' cars section.
Patrick's arrangement is neat but he could do with indicator repeaters on the sides of the car. If you want to see a really neat front end see Bent Larsson's car on the IMM 2004 page http://www.minimarcos.org.uk/shows/imm04/
Btw, please don't download pictures from the web site and post them back to the forum as that just uses up server space. Quote the URL instead. |

According to Marc O'Smini this is the current (temporary) state of Patrick's car. |

Judging form that picture the indicators ar fairly clear from the side profile as well. Still don't know what they are from though.
Hadn't noticed the shark gill detail on the side before.
And still unclear about the bump! |

Hey Richard Intrigued about your comment of an air intake for the heater behind the spot. Explain! I have finally fitted a Golf Mk1 Rad and I was meaning to put a scoop in front of it on the offside but as I had to incline the rad forward in order to clear the dizzy, I think I will have a problem finding enough space. Currently I only have indicators in the cutuots below the main beams. |

I'll have to go and take a photo. There's a circular hole in the indicator panel which is the right diameter to clip in the air hose to the heater. The Mk. IV is designed to take the standard Mini elbow under the wing, but the standard air duct is too short so I have two joined together, back to back. One end clips into the elbow and the other end clips into the hole. The spot lamp is mounted in front of the intake but plenty of air gets in.
To balance things up I made a similar hole at the other side which would take an electric horn if I wanted to fit one.
Nick's suggestion about the air intake is probably right. It looks solid in the top photo but there's probably a opening or grille there. |

The number I have is XBD 483S. It belonged to Nigel Pitt in Lincoln. |

Hey Richard, thanks for info. Great if you could take a pic of the spot/air intake. Look as though it could be the answer. |
