yes 27500 GBP can be plain wrong, but if you buy a car and restore it by a mark specialist it will cost you an awfull lot of money anyway. If one counts all parts, engineering and labour, it will cost a lot of money too imho. I think 16000-18000 GBP is a realistic price for this historic race car. |

This is the same car that was advertised through the MMOC magazine for £3,500 just two years ago (and probably sold for less!) having undergone a major restoration and was, at the time, already 90% complete.
The restoration had been completed to a very high standard by one of our club members who has a link with F1 - and not just by watching it on TV
There is a full page given over to this car in the winter 07 edition of our club magazine - together with a couple of photo's

Might well be considerably cheaper now, whilst up a Snetterton last weekend it got rather clobbered by an errant XK120. It span off at Riches and whilst stationary the XK 120 decided to go off at the same place, T-boning the Jem at quite a speed, lifting the car in the air and damaging it quite badly. Luckily both drivers were unhurt and the Jem still rolls, although it looks a bit of a funny shape, but i think this is due to the damaged roll cage (check out the state of the door bar!) holding the shell whilst still distorted.
I think the photo's are pretty self explanatory.....

Hi Andrew, I bought your old car off my brother. He repaired the body shell and started my idea of putting a Suzuki Swift GTI engine in it. He then lost interest in it and started playing with Land Rovers instead so sold it to me. It is now sitting in the corner of my garage waiting for me to finish it. Every time I start doing work to it another one of my cars breaks and I have to fix that instead. I was hoping to work on it this winter but my Suzuki Cappuccino failed the MOT on rust so that is now undergoing a full restoration. Allan |

Hi Allen, Its heartwarming to see what Mike had managed to do with the shell. It looks to be a superb job and a really interesting project, I hope that you get the time to finish it. For those who are reading this enclosed are some pictures of what the shell looked like before Mike did his magic. Andy |

Are we talking at cros purposes here? I think David needs a Mk.1 Jem shell to take moulds off for at least the front wheel arches. A Mk.2 should be the same in that department. The green one was raced by Ivor Miller who I think is based in Ireland. |
