Well Le Mans in June's out of the window, also the Classic in July. 24hr has been postponed until September - let's hope things are heading back to normal by then, eh?
Keep well! |

Has it really been four years since this trip with George! By way of an update, Joe recently completed his exams (in June) and while I couldn't surprise him as we did his brother, we asked him what he'd like to do as a reward for the effort he put into his exams. To my delight he wanted to go to the MotoGP . So early August we set off for a long weekend. We went to this event as a family in 2019 and had a great (and very hot) time. Suspecting the weather might not be as good, and there only being the two of us, we treated ourselves to a covered grandstand seat for the races.
The event wasn't nearly as big as pre-Covid - the campsite, while good, no where near as good as in 2019. There weren't nearly as many stalls and stands. But there were a few manufactures there and we had a good look/sit on the many bikes there (my favourite being the sports Triumph 1200RR triple - £18k!!!)
Last time there was a (Suzuki run) stand where young-uns could have a go on a small bike - a mini CBT if you like. Unforunately not this time. |

Covered seats were a good idea as it tipped it down at times on the Saturday, and the seats we had were in a good spot to see a few offs, mostly in Moto2 (these bikes being by far the best sounding - Triumph triples again powering all the bikes). Seeing one of the riders loose the front only to save it with his knee/elbow right in front of my eyes was a particular highlight for me!
The museum was new since our last visit, with some good exhibits (both car and bike):

The races on Sunday were all good (Moto3 gets a bit rough, Moto2 sounds just great, MotoGP got exciting when it started spitting with rain). We stayed over until the Monday and on the way back stopped in at the British Motor Museum, which has some interesting vehicles on show:
I bored Joe with tales of 'My Granda had one of these':
and one of these:
And 'My Mam learnt to drive in one of these' (well, a TR2 owned by my uncle):
The same uncle who went on to have one of these:
Well worth a visit. |

But that's it now - no more kids to do GCSEs. So I'm going to have to find another excuse now for these trips. (Hmm... Le Mans Classic in the MM perhaps)
